About Me
I began doing genealogical research in the mid 1970’s. Things were slower then. We still used “card” catalogues at the libraries. We wrote letters. We waited. Today things can sometimes happen very quickly. We can find the answer to a research question in minutes. But, in most cases, once we cross that invisible line back into the pre-1850’s things slow down some. Answers are usually longer in coming. The internet ofttimes doesn’t present the solution to our problem immediately.
It took me 35 years to break through on my grandmother’s German line. My Carter line is finally pushing backward after over 40 years of research, thanks to DNA. If there’s something I’ve learned over these years it’s that if you stick with it you’ll often find the answers you’re looking for.
I have always loved researching. I love the challenge of finding the answer to an elusive question. And, there’s never been a better time to research. Thanks to the internet and DNA we have more records at our disposal then ever before. Brick walls are being crashed through. It’s an exciting time to be involved in family history.
I hope you’ll let me help you find the answers to your questions.
PRINCIPAL
Kimball G. Carter, Certified Genealogist®
I’m proud to be certified by the Board for the Certification of Genealogists.® But what does that really mean? Quite simply it means that I submitted my application, along with a portfolio or required projects, to the board for their review. Three judges reviewed my application and portfolio. They approved my application and the board accepted me as a Certified Genealogist.®
